  • How soon do you have to declare a car after it arrives in the United Kingdom with HMRC Nova?
    Completing the NOVA process takes about 14 days and is essential, as you cannot register your car without it. While you can import a car to the UK yourself, it’s often a complex and time-consuming task. We offer a service to handle it for you. The DVLA’s import guide advises: If you’re permanently importing a car to the UK, you must: Notify HMRC of the car’s details within 14 days of arrival. Pay any applicable VAT before DVLA can register the vehicle. After notifying HMRC, you must register, tax, and fully insure the car before driving. UK residents cannot drive vehicles with foreign registration plates in the UK.

    Vehicles registered outside the EU face a 20% import VAT and a 10% import duty, calculated on the car’s purchase price plus any transport costs to the UK. The VAT is based on the purchase invoice or, if over 3 months old, a recent valuation.

  • Have you bought a classic car?
    Vehicles over 30 years old are eligible for a reduced tax rate due to their historical value, akin to antiques. You'll pay 5% import VAT, calculated on the car's purchase price plus any transport costs to the UK, with no import duty. The VAT is based on the purchase invoice or a recent valuation if the invoice is older than 3 months.
